The Pfizer vaccine is approved by the FDA for those 16 and older and EUA (emergency use authorization) for those 5 and older. The vaccines from Moderna and Johnson & Johnson are authorized for EUA for those 18 and older.

The FDA has now approved the COVID-19 booster shots for Pfizer EUA (emergency use authorization) to anyone 12 and older at least 5 months after completing their primary COVID-19 vaccination series.

For Moderna, the FDA has approved the COVID-19 booster shots EUA (emergency use authorization) for anyone 18 and older at least 5 months after completing their primary COVID-19 vaccination series.

And for J&J the FDA has approved the COVID-19 booster shots EUA (emergency use authorization) for anyone 18 and older at least 2 months after completing their primary COVID-19 vaccination series.

The CDC and FDA say a third dose or boosters are safe and can provide added protection from severe illness or death from COVID-19 in patients who may have a weakened response to vaccination due to certain medical conditions or medications.

For more information about COVID-19 vaccinations and boosters please check out the CDC and FDA webpages.
